Early Election - (and other mysteries)

Seems some have already voted .......

And, in a more mundane, day's event, somehow one of our sliding glass doors got shattered in the night. I had heard nothing. In the early morning around 5:00 am, I found glass covering the floor in our back guest room. Concerned about a possible attempted break-in, and still dark, I took Knuckles outside on the leash to walk the property.  Later, daylight revealed no clues.  I'm assuming it must have been one of our large night owls, who had just smacked into the glass. But, all still a mystery - "Scavenger, Predator or Extinct."

"Billy" update

I've been covering Billy "the Birdman's" plight for many years. I've posted at least 3 or 4 of our encounters through my journal, while he's either lived under, or alongside, the north Siesta Key Bridge. Today I heard a new rumor, so Knuckles and I swung by and dropped in, to check-up on our old friend.

Apparently two nights ago some men in a truck came by late at night, stomped and beat the shit out of him - and did the same to his small dog, Babs. Both were transported. While Billy's back, now under his umbrella, and recovering with bruises and noticeable scabs - his poor little companion is still in the pet hospital, with multiple broken ribs.

The Sheriff's Department had come by earlier in the day and tagged each of Billy's belongings, and once again, all his personal items were to be removed from the camp site. A site, where he has resided on and off for years - relaxing and fishing, while always striking up a conversation for all those who will listen. And true to his nature, Billy has been keeping a close eye lately on a pair of fledgling Ospreys nesting nearby.  He whistles to them - and soon overhead, they are circling, whistling back.

Knuckles and Billy shared a kiss - which Billy more than appreciated, and brought a needed smile for both of them.
