Breakfast

Bein' broke for the last couple of years has put my old style - my old daily morning 'going out' to breakfast routine on hold. So now instead, treating myself once a month, I ride out to Arcadia for breakfast to Wheeler's - and there, find a simple booth on their outside porch with (Steak & eggs @ $6.95). And, with some of those customers, those old gentlemen (still on the occasion) wearing their boots and spurs - and on those monthly Sunday's, finding their polite ladies - dressed in their Sunday best. The style, that atmosphere and the conversation - all make-up for that 50 mile trip - and all adding up for that special breakfast treat.

motorcyclin'

Hitting the back roads with my buddy Pete. Motorcycling can be both, adventuresome and fun.

engineers

I met Eric up at the North bridge. Eric is an engineer with the City of Sarasota and he was just finalizing the drilling under the Intercoastal Waterway, for a large utility pipeline to be connected to the main-land. Ahead of schedule, he was so proud of his equipment - the Vermeer drilling rig - and for the city's available use of new technology. While using a combination of equipment, and a GPS cable system - Eric was a week ahead of schedule. After drilling 72 feet under the waterway - and after some 1200 feet of tunneling - he had that smile on his face.

I had been walking my dog - and 'Knuckles' spooked by the all heavy equipment - had broken off of his leash, and after all that commotion, this final scenario gave me the opportunity to just - stop and talk.

orishas (saints & deities)

Going out at night at a certain age, even for a pack of cigarettes, seems to get harder and harder. It's good to have a close protectorate friend at hand - a St. Christopher, a Jewish 'golem', a Kachina doll or possibly even a dyed rabbits foot. And for some, an exotic air freshener, hung from the mirror can help fight those unknown and uncertain certainties.

But for me, my Tinker Bell (velcroed to the dash) - will always get me there and back.

Gettin' out of town

Been feelin' kinda rough lately.  I've been riding - goin' out of town - and seeing what other folks are up to.  Stopped briefly, east of Floral City, and listened to some 'outside' country music. Occasionally, it's good to get out'a Dodge.
